WHAT'S NEW FOR THE JEEP COMMANDER IN 2007For the 2007 model year, Jeep has confirmed that an Overland edition will go into production. Similar to the Grand Cherokee Overland, the base Commander Overland showcases an increased amount of platinum accents. The premium 2007 Jeep Commander Overland features a forward fascia, platinum grilles, and rear assist handling. Platinum color wheels, side roof railing and body side molds are also included. In what is a first for any Jeep production model, power lift gates will be added as a feature. Woodgrain door accents, bezels and steering wheel have been retained from last year's model. The Overland goes a step up with leather instead of woodgrain. The REC navigation radio has been updated to include live video display from the ParkViewtm camera system. This should help in rear parking as the Jeep is not the smallest or easiest of vehicles to reverse park. Two seating trim choices are said to be offered, saddle brown and a new two-tone styling. Leather is again standard for the 2007 Jeep Commander Overland. The 2007 Jeep Commander comes in Sport, Limited and Overland models. The Commander Sport will feature color coordinated door handles. The Overland model includes front tow hooks, platinum finish for the bodyside panels and front, a wire lattice grille and outside mirrors that match the body color. Other Overland trim pieces also get the platinum finish, with its 18-inch aluminum wheels being added to that list in January. The following engine choices are available. The 3.7-liter V-6 (210 hp), the 4.7-liter V-8 (235 hp) and the 5.7-liter Hemi V-8 (330 hp). The Commander Overland comes in only the 5.7L Hemi configuration, mated with the 545RFE automatic transmission. Jeep Commander only comes with automatic transmission.
